You are what you eat… and you feel it!

I love the quote that says..... "If you are what you eat, then I am fast, cheap, and easy!"
Amercians are getting bigger and unhealthier from these fast cheap and easy foods they are eating and the portion sizes they are consuming. If you look at the ingredients in some of the popular menu items that people eat on a regular basis it is no wonder they are gaining weight. For instamnce a Mcdonald's Big Mac has 550 calories. The problem here is that no one just gets the sandwich alone, they get the "meal". So now we are at 990 calories and we have not even added the catsup for the fries and the refill for the soda! That is more than 1/2 the calories that you should consume in a day AND they are not even healthy calories. OK - so the lettuce and tomatoe on there is good but it's drowned by all the crap around it!

Be smart in your meal choices. It is really not that hard. Start slow. If you normally go out to eat and have semething like this everyday, then cut back a day every week until you are not eating out much. I'm not saying that you cant ever go out - but make it a treat instead of a regular thing. Be samrt about what you get too. Remember - everything you put in your mouth has to be burned off somehow or it goes right to your belly or butt! Is it worth the 70 minute run? OR the 85 minutes of cycling??
It is hard to go cold turkey but if you can that would obviously be even better. Buy sliced turkey for a wrap or a sandwich and fill it with vegetables like lettuce, sprouts, tomatoes and/or make salads. Be aware of the dressings though. Sometimes those can get your meal calories up too, and are chips and soda really necessary? How about some water or even some Crystal light or something if you need flavor? Instead of chips, let's have a pickle or something. I know it can be tough - but you will feel better not eating so unhealthy and you will probably drop a few pounds because you have cut back your calorie intake and most likely fat intake as well. Good luck!
